Domaine Vaccelli - Nathalie & Gérard Courrèges

I was lucky enough to spend a few summers in southern Corsica during my younger years. I returned in 2014 after a long period of expatriation. I hadn't fully appreciated the rise of Corsican wines, as my nose and palate were still blinded by the great Burgundies ;). But as time went by, I got my foot in the door thanks to my family circle (thanks big sister). Every encounter is a story. This one was written by my friend Christophe D., who had the good idea of taking me to Domaine Vaccelli in 2023 to pick up his allowance. It wasn't so much this first meeting that was decisive for me, given Gérard's hectic schedule, but rather the second, when my friend Christophe and I had the privilege of sharing some warm moments with the Courrèges family. A truly precious, suspended moment that ended with a beautiful tour of the estate.

Since 1961, the Courrèges family has been cultivating the granitic arena terroir of the Taravo valley. Their mastery of vermentino and sciaccarellu grapes, their ageing techniques and the elegance and precision of their wines place the estate among the elite of Corsican viticulture. All the vines have been worked organically since 2008.

I'm very fortunate to be able to represent Domaine Vaccelli, whose reputation is well established.
